The stash. It’s talked about and documented on social media like fashion in Cosmo. If you want a stash, or need a stash, I fully support your parenting and feeding goals. What I don’t support is the anxiety that a stash can facilitate. Your body was designed to feed your baby today, not next month. But even I understand the importance of the stash for many situations: NICU separation, going back to work with work trips, knowing you have a surgery or procedure and will be away from baby, the potential for illness or periods impacting supply. There are many factors that go in to creating a stash: the quality of your pump and the flange size you use, how often you’re removing milk, your unique anatomy and physiology for making milk. So before you go comparing your stash to someone else’s, just remember your journey is not someone else’s. And your worth isn’t measured in ounces.
